Titan: does the dinosaur stand a chance?
Did you know that a titanium implant can also be unhealthy?
An implant is a screw that is used as an artificial tooth root when a tooth is lost. A ceramic crown is anchored on this implant. An implant made of titanium was previously considered hypoallergenic, i.e. the least allergenic, and is popular in surgery for joint replacement and dental implants. Nevertheless, an implant made of titanium also harbors certain dangers, as allergies or intolerance may well occur. In addition, titanium amplifies the effect of mobile phone waves like an antenna.
3 reasons why we do not use titanium in our biologically oriented dental practice
1. allergy to components of the titanium implant
Titanium implants sometimes contain traces of nickel, copper or other metals. Therefore, for example, patients with nickel allergy may also react to these titanium implants. A true titanium allergy can also occur. This occurs only rarely and can be tested before use by means of a special blood test, which shows whether the body tolerates the titanium at the current (!) time.
2. intolerance to titanium
The terms allergy and intolerance are often confused or considered identical. However, there are serious differences An intolerance to titanium, for example, does not trigger an immediate allergy shock, but it is nevertheless unhealthy, because it chronically burdens the immune system and thus puts it under constant stress. Up to 50 percent of all people develop an intolerance to titanium and run the risk of becoming chronically ill.
3. metals in the mouth in the interaction of electrosmog and radiation.
Titanium is a metal and a metal pin in the mouth, acts just like amalgam, gold and silver as an antenna in the environment of electromagnetic radiation. This radiation has been constantly increasing since the 1990s due to nearly ubiquitous cellular service, wi-fi, Wi-Fi, cordless phones and the like, plus 5G is on the way. The radiation effect increases by a factor of 4 to 500 if you have titanium or other metals in your mouth.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, an implant made of titanium is only the 2nd and significantly worse choice compared to implants made of ceramic. White implants made of biocompatible ceramics are the better alternative for healthy dentures and are sure to become popular in the future. Our environment has changed and this also affects the dinosaur of implant materials. Will the Titan suffer the same fate as the dinos in prehistoric times?
